ARMY FITNESS TEST

AFT Calculator

Score all five events against the official Army scoring scales, see your points per event, and find out exactly how far you are from the next one.

Enter your five events above and the AFT calculator returns your points for each one, your total out of 500, and the exact gap to your next point. It reads from the Army Fitness Test scoring tables published 15 May 2025 and does not round, average, or interpolate between rows.

Most calculators give you a number. This one shows you the 60-point floor on every event, because a single event under 60 fails the whole test no matter what your total says.

How the Army Fitness Test calculator scores each event

The army fitness test calculator looks your raw result up in the table for your age band, your sex, and your standard. There is no formula behind it. The Army publishes discrete rows and the tool reads the row you landed on.

Five events, 100 points each, 500 maximum.

3-Rep Max Deadlift (MDL). The heaviest weight you pull three times on a hex bar. Enter it in pounds.

Hand-Release Push-Up (HRP). Correct repetitions inside two minutes. Hands leave the deck at the bottom of every rep.

Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC). Five 50-metre shuttles: sprint, sled drag, lateral, kettlebell carry, sprint. Enter your finish time. Lower scores higher.

Plank (PLK). Hold time. This is the one event where men and women read the same column.

2-Mile Run (2MR). Finish time on a flat measured course.

The Standing Power Throw is gone. It left with the ACFT on 1 June 2025 under Army Directive 2025-06. Any tool still asking for a medicine ball throw is scoring the old test.

Which age group am I in?

Ten bands: 17-21, 22-26, 27-31, 32-36, 37-41, 42-46, 47-51, 52-56, 57-61, and 62 and over. Your age on test day sets the band. Some sites still publish six bands. That is wrong and it will hand you a score you did not earn.

Reading your result on the AFT score calculator

Two numbers decide whether you passed. Neither one is optional.

You need 60 points on every single event. Then you need a total that clears your standard. The general standard is 300. The combat standard is 350.

A 340 with a 58 on the run is a failure. A 302 with 60 across the board is a pass. The aft score calculator flags the first case in red and names the event, so you know what to train instead of guessing.

What is a good AFT score?

Anything over 450 puts you well clear on either standard. Above 400 is competitive at a promotion board. The Army only writes two lines into regulation, 300 and 350, so treat every label above those as a training target and not a rule.

Combat standard or general standard?

The general standard is normed by age and sex. The combat standard is age-normed and sex-neutral, which means everyone in a designated combat MOS reads the male column.

Twenty-four specialties fall under it. Infantry, armor, cavalry scouts, field artillery, combat engineers, Special Forces and others. Active component soldiers had to meet it from 1 January 2026. Reserve and National Guard followed on 1 June 2026.

Do not confuse this with the Combat Field Test. The CFT is a separate pass-or-fail assessment introduced under Army Directive 2026-07 and it does not replace the AFT. Combat MOS soldiers pass both.

What changed, and what most calculators still get wrong

Army Directive 2026-13 took effect 7 July 2026. Waist-to-height ratio under 0.55 is now the only body composition standard, and the old 465-point exemption from body fat assessment was rescinded.

A large share of the AFT calculators online still tell soldiers a 465 gets them out of the tape. It does not, and the tape itself is largely gone. We publish a changelog with our own corrections in it, so you can see what we fixed and when.

Questions soldiers ask before test day

What is a passing score on the Army Fitness Test?

Sixty points on each of the five events, plus 300 total under the general standard or 350 under the combat standard. Missing either one is a failure.

Is 400 a good AFT score?

Yes. It clears both standards comfortably and reads well at a promotion board. It is not a regulatory threshold, only a strong result.

Does this calculator count as my official score?

No. Only a certified grader entering your result into DTMS creates a record score. Use this before test day, then check the number on your DA Form 705.

What happens if I fail?

You are flagged and retest within 90 days on active duty, or 180 days in the Reserve Component. Repeat failures can start separation.

Can I use alternate events?

Only with an approved profile on DA Form 3349. Alternate aerobic events are graded go or no-go and are not scored on the 0 to 100 scale.

Before you close the tab

Run the AFT calculator once now and once the week before your record test. The gap between those two numbers tells you whether your training worked. Every figure here comes from the Army Fitness Test scoring tables at army.mil/aft, and we date every page so you can see how current it is.
